Dearest darling,

Hi again Shorty, another day gone — and it was another busy one — which makes one less to sweat out till I can be with you again — Boy hon' won't that be the day! The way I feel tonight it would take less than two cents to make me pack the old bag and head for home — guardhouse or no guardhouse, And guess you know by "home" I do mean you.

Do you ever get in the mood where you'd like to take a swing at someone — doesn't make any difference who — just anybody? If you do, you know exactly how I feel tonight. This G. damn war has kept us apart to damn long the way it is, and boy how I'd like to, be able to take it out on somebody. Sorry if I'm doing too much bitchin, but darling I can't help it — I miss you so. We got paid today too, but that doesn't make me feel any better.

Today I called Headquarters about O.C.S. but they still haven't had any quotas and didn't know when they'd get any. I talked to the O.C.S. clerk today too and he said if I was going this month I'd know about it some time around the 15th. That's about all the information I could get out of him. Hell in this damn army you never know what the score is.

What's cookin in Sheboygan? Your letter you wrote on Sunday has me guessing and a little worried. You say everythings upside down — but you can't tell me what it is — and you tear up three letters — but no reason. Darling if anything's wrong I'd like to know about it, especially if it bothers you as much as whatever this is seems to be doing. If I'm sticking my neck out, I'm sorry, and you just tell me so, but darling I love you so I can't help but worry.

Goodnight for now sweetheart,

your Louis
