Dearest

One more night here at Fitzsimons, and school, Denver, and the Rocky Mts. will be a thing of the past. We had our final exams last Saturday and what with the cramming piled on to the regular work last week was pretty rough. I came though with a lot better grade than I had figured on though (Got a 96 ave.), so we went into Denver Saturday night to celebrate it — and once again I'm on the wagon for life.

We had our graduation exercises this afternoon and they gave us diplomas that are impressive enough to wow any mosquito south of the Mason-Dixon line — I hope. I leave Denver at 3:00 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and should get to polk sometime Saturday night. I got a letter from the 1st sergeant down there and he was no help at all — said I should wait till I got back to ask for a furlough. So the first thing next Monday morning I'm going up to see the Colonel, and that's one morning he better be in a giving mood — 'cause darling I've just got to see you again — but soon!

It was swell of you to go out to Kohler Sunday and spend the afternoon and evening with the Family — 'hope you do like them hon', 'cause once we're married (that's for sure), and have a home of our own (highly probably) and a be-oo-tiful pari of twins (could be), we'll probably be seeing a lot of them.

(Just the thought of bein married to you darling sends a thrill up my back.)

Darling you asked me about this Victor guy — naturally I'm jealous of the time he spends with you, and those are times when I feel like breaking the guys neck — but I've also got to be grateful to him for taking you to Milwaukee, and to shows, etc. which you do enjoy. As for his kissing you, naturally it gripes me hon', but what the heck, we wouldn't be very much in love if we couldn't trust one another. Little old Vic better not make a habit of it though or — see, there I go, always sticking my neck out. 1,2,3,4 — 10 — That's better.Just what's he really like anyway?

Well dear, this isn't much of a letter ('wish I had your knack of writing) but I've got to close now and check the barracks, and then get to bed so I'll get some sleep for the trip back to Polk.

So goodnight darling, I love you,

Louis.
