Background

How it started

Like most strategists, I didn’t expect to end up here — I just couldn’t stop asking questions. I began as a copywriter for a small marketing agency, fresh from a fascinating but esoteric graduate program that wasn’t leading to a lot of job opportunities.

I started by pestering our developers about how things worked, took on more page building and then content management, and eventually moved into a content director role that involved close collaboration with design as well as engineering.

A few jobs later and 13 years later, I’ve been in much more competitive environments and worked with hundreds of clients, but I’m still building on that foundation — and relying on that curiosity.

And yes, over-relying on em dashes.
